The Asian and Immigrant Communities Against Smoking (AICAS) Partnership is a collaboration of multisector partners that identifies needs, shares resources, and participates in advocacy efforts that address the high rates of smoking in New York City's Asian and immigrant communities. Current partners consist of community-based organizations, health care providers, government agencies, and an academic medical center.
The AICAS Partnership is part of the Tobacco Free Community Initiative, which is an array of initiatives that addresses high smoking rates among immigrant populations under NYU Langone Health's Community Service Plan. The Community Service Plan brings together evidence-based programs focused to prevent chronic diseases, promoting safe and healthy environments, and connecting people to resources that address social and health risk factors. This plan was developed by NYU Langone's Department of Population Health, the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone and the Welcome Center at NYU Langone Hospital - Long Island, who, together, led the NYU Langone Health Community Health Needs and Assets Assessment.
